There is Green Food, Green Computing... why not Green Software?
Green Computing makes computing echo friendly and minimizes usage of energy on the lines of Triple Bottom Line. When it comes to Open Source Software, community should also aim to follow the Triple bottom line (People, Planet and Profit).
I have observed that many open source communities already adopted Green in their Logos, Websites and User Interface. Let's see how open source software community either following or should follow Triple Bottom Line (TBL)
People - Make open source software more user friendly and let more people start using Open Source Software
Planet - Make open source software less resource hungry
Profit - The benefit enjoyed by the Open Source Software users community
Open Source Software Community already following most of the TBL policies, so I do not hesitate calling Open Source Software as Green Software.
Go Green should be the open source community new mantra.
